
PROFILE SUMMARY
Mr Kapila set foot into the corporate arena as an Engineer at Hayleys Electronics.
Later he shifted his career path to Investment and Merchant banking specialising in corporate financing and trade financing.
Kapila was the General Manager Overseas Operations at MAS Holdings where he gave the financial leadership in setting up operations in Vietnam, Madagascar and India. His last corporate position has been as the Finance Director of MAS Investments.
Kapila has been a much sought-after lecturer for ACCA, CIMA, CMA Australia and several postgraduate programmes offered by local and foreign universities. In order to pursue his lifelong passion in teaching and education he had a premature exit from a brilliant corporate career and founded the Academy of Finance.
Currently he is the Regional Director for ICMA Australia, Managing Director of Academy of Finance, Academic Director for AeU MBA Programme and a Director of a number of companies including the National Engineering Development Centre (NERD).
Kapila has done his Masters in Economics at University of Colombo specialising in international economics. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK and the first Sri Lankan Fellow of the institute of Certified Management Accountants Australia.
Kapila is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK and Sri Lanka institute of Marketing and he was awarded the CIM Final case study award while he was still an Engineering undergraduate.
Kapila’s first degree is in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and he was one of the first person to enter Moratuwa university as a qualified accountant and the first person to exit as a qualified marketer as well. He is also a Member of the Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka.
Kapila obtained his executive education in Corporate Strategy and Leadership from the faculties of Henley College of Management, Insead, Ashridge and IIM Ahamedabad.
